James Garman

James Garman did not come from the pharmaceutical industry or the supplement world. He came from a background in product development and a personal frustration with the state of the CBD market in 2018 and 2019. After watching family members — active adults in their 60s and 70s — try product after product without meaningful results, he decided to understand why.

What he found was a formulation problem. The vast majority of topical CBD products were being made the same way: take a standard lotion base, add CBD isolate, mix, package, and sell. The cannabinoids never penetrated the skin barrier. They sat on the surface, provided a temporary menthol sensation, and were gone within minutes.

James spent over a year working with a team of cosmetic chemists and cannabinoid researchers to develop a different approach. The result was Kannaco's proprietary oil-in-water hyper-emulsion process — a manufacturing method that disperses cannabinoids at the molecular level for uniform, deep delivery. Combined with a 1:1 CBD:CBG ratio, nine functional terpenes, and SC Labs third-party testing, Kannaco launched in 2019 as a brand built on formulation science, not marketing claims.

Since then, Kannaco has grown to serve over 25,000 customers nationwide, earned LegitScript certification, and built a Medical Advisory Board of licensed physicians, chiropractors, and physical therapists who review every product and every piece of educational content the company publishes.

James continues to lead product development and formulation strategy at Kannaco, and writes regularly for the Kannaco blog on topics ranging from cannabinoid science to the practical realities of building a compliant CBD brand.
