Medical Advisory Board
Board-Certified Physician, Internal Medicine
Omaha, NE
Dr. David Gonzales is a board-certified internal medicine physician and Chief of General Internal Medicine at Creighton University in Omaha, Nebraska. He trained at Stanford University School of Medicine and the University of Texas Medical School at San Antonio, and has spent his career advancing primary care for active adults.
“ The patients who benefit most from topical cannabinoids are the ones who have been told their only options are stronger medications or learning to live with it. There is a third option — and it starts with understanding how the peripheral endocannabinoid system actually works. ”
Dr. David Gonzales completed his medical training at the University of California, San Diego School of Medicine, followed by a residency in internal medicine at Scripps Mercy Hospital. Over the course of his career, he has treated thousands of active adults navigating the challenges of musculoskeletal discomfort, post-activity recovery, and the natural changes that come with aging.
His interest in topical cannabinoid therapy began when he observed a consistent pattern in his practice: patients who were seeking alternatives to long-term NSAID use were often turning to CBD products without any clinical guidance. Most of those products, he found, were not formulated to actually deliver cannabinoids to the peripheral tissue where they were needed.
Dr. Gonzales joined the Kannaco Medical Advisory Board after reviewing the company's formulation data, third-party testing protocols, and hyper-emulsion technology. He now recommends Kannaco topicals as a first-line option for patients seeking targeted, localized comfort support — particularly those who are active, health-conscious, and looking for a non-systemic approach.
Outside of his practice, Dr. Gonzales is an avid golfer and cyclist, and brings a personal understanding of the demands that an active lifestyle places on the body over time.
