Why Should I Take CBD Under my Tongue?

So, what’s so special about using a tincture like sublingual oil drops, as opposed to an edible, or topical solution? Well, imagine CBD products are the train that carries the compound to the bloodstream station. The longer it takes to hit the bloodstream, the more chance it has to get… distracted (In other words, lose some of its potency). This is why edibles like gummies, for instance, take a lot longer to work and may a little less pronounced than sublingual oil.

Why It's so Effective!

So, what differentiates using a tincture like sublingual oil drops, as opposed to an edible, or topical solution? Well, imagine CBD products are the train that carries the compound to the bloodstream station. The longer it takes to hit the bloodstream, the more chance it has to lose some of its potency. This is why edibles like gummies, while still great products, take a lot longer to work and may be a little less pronounced than sublingual oil.

Scientists have conducted many studies to compare the various administration methods. This is all in hopes of further understanding how certain forms utilize the compound. If you just ingest CBD oil orally, it has to travel through the stomach before finally reaching the bloodstream. Through sublingual application, you can experience the effects much faster.

However, it is important to note that CBD often presents more therapeutic results when it is incorporated into a daily routine so that it slowly builds in your bloodstream. Whatever method of administration your heart desires, it is important that you choose what’s right for you! Including CBD in your wellness routine should reflect your lifestyle and meet your personal needs. But one thing’s for sure… In a thriving CBD market, anything is possible!

The Application

Application is nothing to be afraid of, and it’s really quite easy! To use sublingual oil drops, simply place a few drops of the oil under your tongue and let that oil sit in that place for 30-60 seconds before swallowing. Sublingual application is slightly different from buccal application (which involves placing drops between your cheeks and gums) and intranasal application (taking substance through the nose). It turns out, the space specifically underneath your tongue is covered with easy access points that allow the CBD extract to soak directly into your bloodstream.

There are a few additional strategies that can make this kind of application the most effective. In addition to placing the product directly under the tongue (that’s for those mucosal membranes we mentioned earlier), try not to eat or drink anything for 10 minutes so nothing gets in the way of getting’ the goods to work!
