What is CBD Isolate? A Guide

Sure, you know what CBD is. But did you know that there are actually three main types of CBD, including CBD Isolate?  

CBD products are in health stores, recommended by doctors and being examined for their many different health applications.  So many people have heard of CBD, but few actually know how to unlock its benefits or find the right individualized solution for them. 

Understanding the different types of CBD is essential if you’re integrating it into your wellness routine.  Being able to select the right type of CBD will most likely give the desired health benefits, so keep reading to find out which type of CBD is right for you . 

The different types of CBD 

So, you smoked a little in college and now you’re ready to give cannabis another try.  Many come back to cannabis and find that CBD is truly what they’re looking for.  If you’re wanting to learn more about CBD, understanding the different types is an excellent place to start.   

Buckle up, because we’re about to do a deep dive into the world of CBD and THC. 

CBD can naturally help with chronic pain, discomfort and many other issues that individuals face on a daily basis.  Because of its natural properties, many are turning to CBD for relief and respite, as well as relaxation and comfort. 

THC is a compound that’s commonly associated with getting high.  If you’ve been baked, then you know what the effects of THC feel like.  While there are some that seek out THC for the euphoric feeling it often exhibits, there are others that aren’t quite looking for the same mellow.  

If you’re looking for the health benefits of cannabis but don’t want the high, then CBD might be the best option for you.  Whether or not a CBD product has THC is one of the biggest differentiating factors. 

The three primary types of CBD are very similar when looking at them from certain perspectives.  The main differences between the three are the process by which they’re made and the specific compounds they contain. 

Full-spectrum CBD 

If you’re looking for the entire scope of benefits that CBD has to offer, then you might want to consider the full-spectrum option.  You can thank the entourage effect for this - the term coined for the added benefits you receive from all the cannabinoids (as opposed to only some) workng together. This type of CBD does have THC, but it’s in very low amounts.  This means that while you won’t get the same high you would from smoking a joint, you’ll most likely feel relaxed. 

Broad-spectrum CBD 

Broad-spectrum CBD will have no THC, though there may be some products with very small amounts.  While it doesn’t contain THC, broad-spectrum CBD does typically have other minor cannabinoids that can be found with the likes of full-spectrum, such as CBG and CBN.  

CBD Isolate 

CBD Isolate is another form of CBD that contains  no THC, or any other cannabinoids for that matter.   

When looking at what separates CBD Isolate from the other types of CBD, development is a key factor. CBD Isolate is made very differently than the other two types of CBD.  The process is extensive and detailed, so let’s go over how Isolate is created. 

Making CBD Isolate 

The process behind making CBD Isolate is intricate, combining science and skill to create a product that’s guaranteed both safe and natural. 

Because CBD Isolate is incredibly refined to remove all of the THC, the creation process relies on multiple different techniques to ensure that the final product is in its purest form.   

First, the CBD is extracted from the rest of the compounds within cannabis.  Then, it’s purified and filtered, ensuring that just the CBD remains. 

After this comes winterization, the final step in the CBD Isolate process.  Winterization removes lipids through manipulating temperature and using a precise filtration process.  This technique is used in other types of CBD products, because of its efficiency and ability to remove certain compounds.  

Primary Uses of CBD Isolate 

When talking about the uses of CBD Isolate, you can usually think primarily in the same way, and for the same reasons, as the other CBD types.  

The benefits of CBD rely on its natural compounds and ability to interact with various receptors throughout the body.  While the effects of CBD are real, they can present themselves in different ways and in varying degrees throughout the body. This can show itself in promising anti-inflammatory effects, or reports of feeling calm and relief from stress from users.

What dosage you take may depend on the method you’re using to consume.  Keep in mind that various methods, from oils and tinctures to edibles and vaping, will hit your system at different rates. 

The Pros (and Cons) of CBD Isolate 

Many are drawn to CBD Isolate because it is a natural option that’s still been refined.  This means that you get health benefits with knowing you are only taking in CBD. There is also the form factor of CBD Isolate – it's always in a powder form, meaning it’s sometimes easier to mix in with other foods and beverages. 

One of the biggest cons of CBD Isolate is that it really may not give you the full suite of benefits you would receive from full-spectrum or broad-spectrum, that will have a greater number of helpful compounds. You will find as you try different types of CBD, each have their own set of benefits as well as limitations, it’s important to be informed and decide what is best for you.
